Hi, I’m Abbie – Get to know me.

About Me

Hello, my name is Abbie Coen. I am a Civil and Environmental Engineering major at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ where I was also a member of the Women’s basketball team. After finishing my degree in Civil Engineering in May of 2024, I want to enter into a masters program in Architecture. I think that I needed to know how to build things before I focus on how to creatively design them. I have a lot to learn with respect to the artistic aspect of being an architect. I have a few items of interest in my portfolio, and I want to share them with you. Thank you so much for the interest in me and my professional goals.

I feel I do a great job of bringing together mathematics and art. I am unique in that I really enjoy both.

My Education

Rowan University College of Engineering

I chose Rowan University because I wanted to get a great engineering education while I played basketball at the collegiate level. Rowan University also happened to be a few hours away from where my family lives in Morgantown, WV. They could attend any of my games that they chose. It turned out to be a great decision for me. I grew up quickly, learned great time management, will receive a great degree in a STEM field, and made lifelong friends.

Work Experience

I don’t have work experience relative to my fields of study and interest. This is why I am interested in joining a quality team for an internship in Engineering and/or Architecture.

In my three years at Rowan University, I’ve completed a great deal of coursework on civil and structural engineering trends and best practices, including Fluid Mechanics, Civil Engineering Materials, and Structural Analysis.

In addition, I was a member of the Rowan University Women’s basketball team. Being a member of this team has taught me to better manage my time, to put others needs above my own, and to work as a team to achieve our lofty goals.

Finally, time working at the front desk at Lakeview Fitness center has taught me the importance of building a convenient and memorable customer experience that aligns with the brand. It also helped me grow my skills in team collaboration, verbal communication, and project leadership.

I believe I would make an excellent addition to any team. An internship will help me grow my real-world experience in the structural engineering and architecture.
